A fake language, taken seriously
Denis Villeneuve sits with Stephen Colbert the night before Dune: Part Two opened. They talk the New York premiere, shooting sandworms, the Harkonnen infrared look, and Chakobsa, which David J. Peterson built from remnants in Frank Herbert's book. Villeneuve says there will be a Part Three—Dune Messiah would finish Paul Atreides' arc. The official Late Show cut runs about nine minutes.

A fake language, taken seriously
The YouTube title is a line Villeneuve says on the couch. David J. Peterson built Chakobsa from remnants in Frank Herbert's book. The cast went to school on it. A dialect coach was on set. Villeneuve tells Colbert he called a complex take done—then the coach said the pronunciation was wrong. His answer: come on, brother, it's a fake language. They did it again.
Colbert had already seen Dune: Part Two twice, including the U.S. premiere. They talk infrared photography on Giedi Prime, Javier Bardem's humor, and whether there will be a Part Three. Villeneuve says there will be—Dune Messiah would finish Paul Atreides' arc. The full upload is 9 minutes 17 seconds, published March 1, 2024, from the February 29 Late Show.
